IP Networks and IP Network Security
We use IP technology innovatively to maximise client budgets
IP is a good choice for customers with multiple sites over a wide geographic region as costs are reduced with one network that carries various communications across all locations.
Relocating the control facility for CCTV will not require expensive network reconfiguration; simply move and reconfigure the department PCs. IP also allows businesses to increase the quality of a wireless network relatively inexpensively.
design considerations
There are a number of factors that inform design and budget requirements but one that is often overlooked is the need to compress video CCTV images to move them across an IP network.
Compression standards are widely varied and if evidential quality images are required, higher bandwidth and storage capabilities are a must.
It is worth noting that there is a maximum transmission distance of 100m between a device and network switch, meaning IP cable-runs tend to be shorter than analogue. A lot depends on system requirements but often a hybrid solution, where an analogue network is IP enabled, is the best choice.
